ABHEDYA facility
commissioned at Lonavala –
Ø Admiral Sunil Lanba commissioned a Nuclear,
Biological, Chemical Training Facility –ABHEDYA, at INS Shivji, Lonavala an 25
March 2019.
Ø It will assist the Indian Navy in providing a
realistic simulation of NBC war fare to its personnel.
Ø The steel structure of the simulator represents the
relevant NBC compartment of the ship such as upper decks, citadels, cleaning
stations, etc.
Exercise AI Nagah 2019
concluded –
Ø The 3rd edition of Exercise AL NAGAH 2019
concluded at Jabel AI Akhdar training camp, Oman on 25 March 2019.
Ø It was a joint military exercise between the Indian
Army and the Royal Oman Army.
Ø The 2 week long exercise has commenced on 12 March
2019.
Ø 60 soldier’s of the Indian Army took part in the
exercise along with similar strength of pers from the Royal Army of Oman.
Apple card introduced –
Ø Apple announced Apple card on 25 March 2019, an
innovative, new kind of credit card created by Apple.
Ø It has been designed to help customers lead a
healthier financial life.
Ø It is built into the Apple Wallet app on the iPhone,
offering customers a similar experience with Apple pay and ability to manage
their card right on the iPhone.

TV Plus –
Ø Apple announced its Apple TV Plus streaming service
along with the handful of original TV shows that are in the works, on 25 March
2019.
Ø However, it left key details such as price, a release
date, or a real sense of the company strategy.
Ø India ’s top-ranked paddler G Sathiyan won a bronze medal at
the ITTF Challenge Plus Oman Open on 24 March 2019.
Ø It was disappointing for India in women singles as both
Madhurika Patkar and Riti Shankar failed to go past the first round of the main
draw.
Ø In men’s doubles, Sathiyan and Sharath lost their
quaterfinals to the Russian pair of Denis Ivonin and Vladimir Sidorenko 2-3.
Ø India ranked 76th on a global energy
transition index, which has ranked 115 economics on how well they are able to
balance energy security and access with environmental sustainability and
affordability.
Ø Sweden was on the top followed by Switzerland
and Norway
in the top three.
Ø China ranked even lower than India at the 82nd
position.
Obituaries –
Ø Singer-songwriter Scott Walker passed away on 25 March
2019, after a carrier that took him from 1960s pop icon to the 21st-centuary
avant-grade musician.
Ø One of Tupelo ’s
best known civil rights leaders Revender Robert J. Jamison, Sr. passed away on
24 March 2019.
Bharat Consumption
scheme launched –
Ø ICICI Prudential AMC launched ICICI Prudential Bharat
Consumption Scheme on 26 March, 2019
Ø The scheme aims to benefit from the Indian consumption
story, considered as one of the fastest growing consumptions markets globally.
Ø The offer will open on March 26 and close April 9
2019.
Ø The scheme is an open-ended equity scheme following
the consumption theme.
RBI appointed 5-member
committee –
Ø RBI appointed 5-member committee under the
chairmanship of Nandan Nilekani to further deepen digital payments and enhance
financial inclusion through FinTech.
Ø The RBI has requested the committee to give
recommendations in three months in this regard.
Ø This was announced at the inaugural event of FinTech
Conclave organized by Niti Aayog in New
Delhi on 25 March 2019.
Indian Oil companies
won ADNOC awards –
Ø A constortium of 2 Indian oil companies, Bharat
Petroleum Corporation Limited and Indian Oil, Corporation Ltd have been awarded
the exploration right of Abu Dhabi Onshoe Block 1.
Ø The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, signed
agreements awarding the exploration rights on 25 March 2019.
Ø The award has been endorsed by Abu Dhabi ’s Supreme Petroleum Council.
Chandrayan 2 to carry
laser instruments –
Ø India ’s lunar mission Chndayaan 2, scheduled to launch in
April, will carry NASA’s laser instruments that allows scientist to make
precise measurements of the distance of the moon.
Ø In Chandrayaan – 2 Mission , a 3,890-kg Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft
will orbit around the Moon to Study its condition and collect data of its
topography, mineralogy and exosphere.
SEBI modified
commissions –
Ø SEBI reviewed and modified the commission as well as
disclosure norms for the mutual fund industry on 25 March 2019.
Ø The over came after SEBI in October 2018 asked the
asset management companies (AMC) to adopt full trial mode of commissions of all
schemes.
Ø The commission will be paid from AMC’s books and only
the first SIP(s) purchased by the new investor will be eligible for upfronting.
Anil Nair: CEO of
VMLY&R -
Ø VMLY&R appointed Anil Nair as the CEO of its India
Business effective immediately at 25 March 2019.
Ø Based out of Agency’s Mumbai office, he will report to
VMLY&R Asia co-chief executive Tripti Lochan, who is based in Singapore .
Ø Nair will oversea VMLY&R’s India operation,
driving growth and building an agency’s integrated service opening spanning
creative, technology and data services.
