CWC land to be acquired
by Telangana govt –
· The Union Cabinet approved the acquiring of 372 sq.
yards out of 10 acres of land including the compound wall in the eastern side
of Central Water Commission land by the Telangana Government.
· This would be done for improvement for Radial road no.
30 by widening of road with nil charges.
· A center of excellence is proposed to be constructed
over the allotted land.
Vijay Gokhale on 2-day
visit to Nepal
–
· Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale is on a two-day visit
to Nepal ,
beginning 28 March 2019.
· He will have a bilateral meeting with his Nepalese
counterpart Shankar Das Bairagi.
· They are expected to access progress of various
projects including Motihari-Amlekhgunj oil pipeline, Railway, and Arun III
Hydropower project.
US circulated draft
resolution –
· The US
circulated a draft resolution to UN Secretary Council to blacklist Masood
Azhar, Chief of Pakistan based terrorist group Jais-E-Mohammed.
· The draft resolution condemns the Pulwama attack and says
that Azhar will be added to the UN-Al-Qaeda and Islamic State sanctions
blacklist.
· The resolution is backed by France
and Britain which joined the
US
in pushing for sanctions against Azhar.
· An agreement was signed between India and the
African Union to established an India-Africa health sciences and collaborative
platform.
· It will pave the way of cooperation in research and
development, pharmaceutical, trade and manufacturing capabilities for drugs and
diagnostics.
Breakdancing to be
added to Olympic 2024 –
· The Executive Board of the International Olympic
Committee (IOC) recommended adding breakdancing, skateboarding, sport climbing
and surfing to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
· The addition of these 4 sports to the Paris medal programme offers the opportunity
to connect to the young generation.
· All 4 sports will be assessed in terms of how they are
managed, the integrity of competitions and judging.
Savita to lead Indian
Women’s Hockey team –
· Goalkeeper Savita will captain on 18-strong Indian
Women’s Hockey team for the five-match series against Malaysia
starting for 4 April 2019.
· She will stand in for regular skipper Rani Rampal, who
is nursing an injury.
· The 8-day tour of Kuala Lumpur will have defender Deep Grace
Ekka as Savita’s deputy.
· Rajani Etimarpu has joined the squad as the second
goalkeeper.
Vedanta reported oil
discovery –
· Cairn Oil and Gas, a subsidiary of Anil Agarwal-led
Vedanta Ltd, announced an oil discovery in its Krishna Godavri basin block in
the Bay of Bengal on 27 March 2019.
· Cairn India
had won the KG-OSN-2009/3 block in June 2010 during the edition of the New
Exploration License Policy (NELP).
· The first exploration well A3-2 drilled in the block
was a gas discovery.
Shares can be
transferred in only demat –
· Transfer of shares of listed companies would can be
done only in the demat form from 1 April, 2019, as said by SEBI on 27 March
2019.
· Shares in the Demat form would help in maintaining a
transparent record of shareholding at companies amid rising concerns over
beneficial ownership of entities.
· The moves does not prohibit an investor from holding
the shares in physical form even after April 1.
NTPC raised $ 450
million –
· NTPC launched a medium term-notes (MTN or bond) issues
to raise $450 million as a part of its $6 billion (approx Rs.41,000 crore) MTN
programme.
· The MTNs are also known as bonds in the oversea
markets. The issue would close on 3 April 2019.
· The funds raise through the issue will be used for
capital expenditure by the company.
Kenichi Ayukawa: CEO
Maruti Suzuki –
· Maruti Suzuki India Ltd appointed Kenichi Ayukawa as
its MD and CEO for the third straight term.
· Certain aspects of MoU between its parent company
Suzuki Motor Corp. and Toyota Motor Corp, was also approved.
· Ayukawa took charge of Maruti Suzuki in 2013, when it
was reeling with labour related crisis and loss of volumes due to the increase
in diesel vehicle sales across the country.
· Singapore ’s Changi
Airport has been crowned
the world’s best aviation hub for the seventh time in row.
· New Delhi ’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport feature
at no.59, according to Skytrax World Airport Awards.
· The list was compiled by the UK-based Skytrax, as
consultancy firm which runs an airline and airport review and ranking site,
featuring 100 airports.
· India and the US signed an agreement for exchange
of country-by-country (CBC) report, a move that is expected to give huge relief
to subsidiaries of US-headquarters companies in taxation-related matter.
· The agreement was signed by PC Mody, Chairman, Central
Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), and Keeneth I Juster, US
Ambassador to India .
AUSINDEX to be held
from April 2 to 16th –
· Third Installment of the Joint Naval Exercise of
Indai’s and Australia ’s
AUSINDEX to be held off the coast of Visakhapatnam
from April 2 to 16, 2019.
· The exercise will focus on anti-submarine warfare, as
part of efforts to ramp up bilateral naval cooperation in the strategic Indian Ocean region.
· The exercise will feature the deployment of Australian
personnel on Indian ships and vice versa.
