DPIIT proposed Startup India Vision
2024 –
·
The
Commerce and Industry Ministry has proposed a host of measures such as text
incentives to promote budding entrepreneurs as part of the ‘Startup India
Vision 2024’.
·
The
vision document aims at facilitating setting up of 50,000 new start-ups in the
country by 2024 and creating 20 lakh direct and indirect opportunities.
Skyroot to test Vikram series of
rockets –
·
Skyroot
Aerospace, a Hyderabad Startup, is gearing up to test-launch its ‘Vikram’
series of rockestto send satellites in space by mid-2021.
·
The
Aerospace company is betting big on the proposed Space Activities Bill-2017
which is under discussion at the Cabinet-level.
·
Once
the bill is passed, it would enable and regulate the activities related to
space by the private players.
Sri Lanka banned drones after Easter
bombings –
·
Sri
Lanka banned the use of drones and unmanned aircraft following the Easter
bombings that killed over 350 people and injured more than 500.
·
The
ban will be in effect until further notice.
·
Ranil
Wickremesinghe is the OM of Sri Lanka, while Maithripala Sirisena is its
President.
Russia and North Korea held first
summit –
·
Russia’s
Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Jong Un held first summit talks in Vladivostok.
·
Its
aim was to strengthen ties that date back to the Soviet Union’s support for the
founder of North Korea, Kim’s grandfather Kim II Sung.
2 new birds species found in
Indonesia –
·
Zoologists
at Trinity College Dublin discovered 2 new bird species named as the Wakatobi white-eye
and the Wangi-Wangi white-eye in the Wakatobi Archipelago of Sulawesi,
Indonesia.
·
Details
of their discovery were published in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society.
·
In
the same journal, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin published their original
ideas about specification in 1858.
SBI Launched Green Car Loan –
·
State
Bank of India (SBI) launched ‘Green Car Loan’ to encourage customers to buy
electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.
·
The
interest rates on the loan will be 20 basis points (0.2%) lower than SBI’s
existing auto loans.
·
Thus,
the equated monthly instalment (EMI) per Rs.1 lakh will be lower at Rs.1,468
for 96 months.
·
The
scheme comes with the longest repayment period of up to 8 years.
Etihad: 1st to operate
plastic-free flight –
·
Etihad
Airways has become the first airline in the Gulf region to operate a flight EY484
without any plastics on board, in a bid to raise awareness about pollution on
Earth Day (April 22).
·
Etihad
identified that over 95 single-use plastics products are used across its
aircrafts cabins.
·
By
the end of 2019, it will have removed 100 tonnes of single-use plastics from
its inflight service.
Sri Lanka’s Defence Secretary resigned
–
·
Sri
Lanka’s Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando resigned on 25th April
after the Easter attacks.
·
He
took the responsibility for the deadly serial bombings.
·
The
new Secretary is yet to be named.
·
Mr.Fernando
is the first official to step down after both President Maithripala Sirisena
and PM Ranil Wickremesinghe said they were unaware of the imminent threat.
Mr. Naidu visited National Museum of
Cinema –
·
The
Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu visited the National Museum of
Indian Cinema, in Mumbai on 26 April, 2019.
·
Exhibits
at the museum would take the visitors down the memory lane of their favourite
movies, actor sand the music.
·
Cinema
being the most loved and watched platform by the every Indian act as an
instrument of social change.
New Rs. 20 notes to be issued soon –
·
The
RBI would soon issue Rs. 20 notes greenish-yellow colour.
·
The
banknote in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series will have a motif of Ellora Caves
on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage.
·
The
dimension of the new Rs. 20 notes will be 63 mm x 129 mm.
BepiColombo mission completed tests –
·
The
European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)’s
BepiColombo mission has successfully completed a series of test.
·
It
has completed its near-Earth commissioning phase.
·
It
is now read for the operations that will take place eventually for its scientific
investigations at Mercury.
