World Autism Awareness Day: 2 April –

·       World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognize day on the second of April every year.
·       The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared 2 April as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the quality of life of those with autism.
·       The theme for this year is ‘Assistive Technologies, Active Participation’.

India and Chile exchange 3 MoUs –

·       India and Chile signed 3 MoUs in the fields of mining, culture, and empowerment of persons with disabilities.
·       Chile will allow visa-free entry to Indians holding valid US visa.
·       President Kovind participated in India-Chile business Forum at the University of Chile.
·       The countries will also agreed to explore opportunities for other cooperation in the defence sector.

Asian Airgun Championships –

·       India ended the 12th Asian Airgun Championships 2019 in Taiyuan, Taipei, with an overall tally of 25 medals including 16 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze.
·       On the concluding day of the championship, Yash Vardhan and Shreya Agarwal struck gold in the men’s and women’s junior 10 m Air Rifle event respectively.
·       They also won the team gold in the events with their respective partners.

India open 2019 concluded –

·       The 2019 India  Open, officially the YONEX-SUNRISE India Open 2019 Badminton tournament concluded.
·       It took place in New Delhi, India.
·       Victor Axelsen of Denmark won in the men’s singles category while India’s Srikanth Kidambi became the runners-up.
·       Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand won in women’s singles category.

BOB becomes 3rd largest Bank –

·       The amalgamation of Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank into the Bank of Baroda (BoB) has come into affect and all branches of the former two will function as branches of BoB.
·       The merged entity would also receive Rs. 5,042 crore fund infusion from the government.
·       Post the merger, Bank of Baroda has become the third largest bank in the country.

India won ICC Test Championship mace –

·       India has won ICC test championship mace for the third year in a row after finishing at the top ICC Test Team rankings on the cut-off date of April-1.
·       India has also been awarded $ 1-million cash prize.
·       New Zealand, who are ranked 2nd, won $500,000 prize money after finishing with 108 points, eight behind India.
·       South Africa finished 3rd with 105 points.

RBI tweaks NPA divergence disclosure rules –

·       RBI asked banks to disclose bad loan divergences in their financial statements if the additional provisioning exceed 10% of profit before provision and contigencies.
·       Earlier, banks were to make suitable disclosures if the additional provisioning requirements assessed by RBI exceeded 15% of the published net profits.
·       RBI will inject long-term liquidity worth $5 bn into the banking system.

Center extends disturbed area tag under AFSPA –

·       The center has extended the “disturbed area” tag under Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) for three distinct of Arunachal Pradesh for another six months.
·       The three districts which will continue to be designated as disturbed areas under AFSPA are Tirap, Changlang and Longding.
·       The AFSPA is imposed in areas where armed forces are required to operate in aid to civil authorities.

Vinod Dasari named Royal Enfield CEO –

·       Eicher Motors Ltd. has appointed Vinod K.Dasari as the chief executive officer of Royal Enfield.
·       He will also join the board of Eicher Motors as executive director with immediate effect.
·       He stepped down as MD  and CEO of Ashok Leyland on March 31.
·       He takes over from Siddhartha Lal, he will continue as the MD of Eicher Motors.

ISRO opens its 1st visitors gallery –

·       In a first, ISRO opened a visitor’s gallery with 5,000 capacity at Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota island on Sunday.
·       The gallery has a clear line of sight to two launch pads and large screens to explain launcher and satellite features, ISRO said.
·       This comes as ISRO launched defence satellite EMISAT along with 28 foreign satellites.

Google India Head Rajan Anandan Resigned –

·       Rajan Anandan, vice president for Google India and South East Asia, and essentially heading Google in India, is leaving the company after an eight-year stint.
·       Anandan had joined Google from Microsoft India in 2010.
·       Vikas Agnihotri, who is currently serving as Google’s country director for sales, will take on the interim responsibility until the company finds a new managing director.

Deadline to link PAN with Aadhaar extended –

·       The government has extended the last date to link Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar number by six month till 30th of September.
·       Earlier, March 31st was the last date.
·       The CBDT has also made it clear that it is mandatory to quote and link Aadhaar number from April 1, 2019 in filling the Income Tax Return.
