Nasscom appoints Keshav
Murugesh as CEO –
· IT industry body Nasscom has appointed WNS Global
Services Group CEO Keshav Murugesh as its chairman 2019-20.
· He succeeded Rishad Premji (Wipro Chief strategy
officer and board member).
· Nasscom has appointed Infosys COO U.B. Pravin Rao as
its vice-chairman for 2019-20.
Indian Navy to acquire
6 lethal submarines –
· Indian Navy will acquire 6 lethal submarines under
project-75.
· Under project 75-India, the Navy wants to build six
conventional diesel-electric submarines.
· The submarines should have ability to carry and launch
heavyweight torpedoes in the sea.
· For the Indian Navy, the Project 751-class submarine
is a follow-of the project-75 Kalvari-class submarines.
Shah Rukh Khan
conferred with Honorary Doctorate –

· Eminent Bollywood Actor Shah Rukh Khan conferred with
an honorary doctorate in Philanthropy by the University
of Law , London .
· He was awarded this for his efforts to give back to
society.
· He had received the merit during a graduation ceremony
which had more than 350 students in attendance.
National Cardiology
Conference inaugurated –

· Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the
National Cardiology Conference 2019 at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of
Medical Science in Lucknow
on April 5, 2019.
· The conference is organized by the Department if
Cardiology.
· The conference offers an opportunity to showcase newer
innovations in Cardiology that can help deliver cost-effective cardiology care
to patients.
David Malpass to be the
President of the World Bank –
· American David Malpass is selected as the new
President of the World Bank.
· David Malpass is currently US Treasure Department’s
Under Secretary for International Affairs.
· He was a Senior Economic advisor to US President
Donald Trump during his 2016 election campaign.
· Malpass succeeds Jim Yong-Kim, who stepped sown on
February 1 to join an investment firm.
· Japan ’s space agency has said its Hayabusa2 spacecraft
released an explosive onto an asteroid to make a crater on its surface.
· It will also collect underground samples to find
possible clues to the origin if the solar system.
· The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said that
Hayabusa2 dropped a “small carry-on impactor” made of copper onto the asteroid
and safely evacuated and remained intact.
Praful Patel elected as
FIFA Council member –

· All India Football Federation president Praful Patel
was elected as a FIFA Council Member on 6 April, 2019.
· He is the first Indian to enter the prestigious
council in the landmark development.
· He was one of the eight candidates vying for the spot
in the election which was held during the 29th AFC (Asian Football
Confederations) Congress in Malaysia .
Treaty signed between India and Brazil –

·
India and Brazil
have sealed a treaty for repatriation of convicted prisoners so that they can
serve their remaining jail term in their own country.
·
The Instruments
of Ratification by India and
Brazil
were exchanged on January 24, 2019.
·
A sentenced
person will be transferred under this agreement only on the conditions that the
sentenced person is a national of the receiving state.
Scientists discovers
‘death-switch’ in plants –

· Chinese scientists have discovered a possible “death
switch” mechanism in the plants immune systems that triggers infected cells to
self-destruct.
· This will limit the spread of the diseases and keeping
other parts of the plant healthy.
· Scientists said the discovery provides clues to cell
death control and immunity for plants.
Army Commanders’
Conference: April 2019 –

· The biannual Army Commanders’ Conference shall on 8
April 2019.
· Army Commanders; Conference, chaired by Chief of the
Army Staff is held biannually by formulating important policy decisions through
collegiate deliberations.
· It is an important event for the planning and
execution process of the Indian Army.
Chennai Central railway
station renamed –
· The Chennai Central railway station has been renamed
as Dr.MG Ramachandran Chennai Central railway station.
· Dr.MG Ramachandran is the former state chief minister
and founder of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhangam (AIADMK).
· The no-objection certificate was issued by the
Ministry of Home Affairs for renaming the Railway Station.
