Battle of Kangla Tongbi: Platinum Jubilee –

·       The Battle of Kangla Tongbi, considered one of the fiercest battles of World War II, was fought by Ordnance Personnel of 221 Advance Ordnance Depot (AOD)  on the night of 6/7 April 1944.

·       The Platinum Jubilee of the Battle of Kagla Tongbi war was commemorated on 7 April 2019 by Army Ordnance Corps at Kangla Tongbi War Memorial near Imphal.

BAC conference began –

·       The biannual Army Commanders’ conference began in New Delhi on 8 April 2019.

·       Important issues were discussed such as the management of the extant security threats and enhancement of combat edge over potential adversaries.

·       Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman delivered her opening address at the conference.

India evacuated CRPF contingent from Libya –

·       India evacuated its entire contingent of 15 CRPF personnel from Tripoli after the situation suddenly worsened in Libya.

·       The CRPF contingent was deployed as a peace keeping force in Tripoli.

·       The military conflict in Libya escalated after forces of Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar launched an air strike in an area in Tripoli.

·       Indian Ambassador in Tunisia has the concurrent charge of Libya.

Amazon India partnered with Ketto –

·       Amazon India joined hands with Mumbai-based crowdfunding company Ketto to help its sellers raise funding for business expansion, product development and even for medical assistance.

·       As a part of the programme named Amazon Wings, the company will allow its seller to use Ketto’s platform and raise small ticket funds beginning from Indian Rs.50K at a subsidized fee for initiating fundraiser.

Former Maldives President made comeback –

·       The Former Maldives President vowed sweeping reforms and an end to government corruption after leading his party to a landslide victory just five months since returning from exile.

·       Mohammed Nasheed made a dramatic return to the top of the national parliament, with his Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) headed for a two-third majority in the 87-member assembly.

INS Shakti to take part in Chinese celebration –

·       Two Indian Naval Ships INS ‘Kolakata’ and ‘Shakti’ would take part in the Chinese Navy’s 70^th anniversary of celebrations later in April 2019.

·       The two ships are scheduled to visit Chinese port of Qingdao fro 21 to 26 April to participate in the International Fleet Review to celebrate the 70^th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.

Justice Nandrajog sworn in as CCJ of BHC –

·       Justice Pradeep Nandrajog was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on 7 April 2019.

·       He was earlier Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.

·       He now succeeds Justice Naresh Patil, who retired as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on 6 April, 2019.

·       Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao administered the oath of office to Justice Nandrajog at the Raj Bhawan.

NC won air weapon championship for 4^th time –

·       Udhampur-based Northern Command has won the 15^th edition of General J J Singh air weapon championship for the fourth consecutive time.

·       The championship was conducted at Army Marksmanship Unit, Mhow between March 2 and April 3,2019.

·       Over 100 male and female youngsters shooters from across the Indian Army competed in the 10-meter air rifle and air pistol categories.

Lin Dan clinched Malaysia Open –

·       Chinese badminton ace Lin Dan clinchéd the Malaysia open in Kuala Lumpur on 7 April 2019.

·       After an electric performance, he beat countrymen Cheng Long 9-21, 21-7, 21-11.

·       The title in Lin’s first win this year, and also his first major success since taking the Malaysia Open in 2017.

World Health Day: 7 April –

·       World Health Day is observed every year on 7 April under the sponsorship of WHO.

·       The theme of World Health Day 2019 is ‘Universal Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere’ to ensure that no human being will ever have to make a choice between the two.

·       The day celebrates the establishment of the WHO and this year it marks the end of the World Health Organization’s 70^th-Anniversary celebrations.

SEBI gave nod for Airport fund –

·       SEBI has approved an ‘Airport’ specific fund of capital upto Rs. 10,000 crore as a Category II AIF.

·       Chennai-based ‘Taking OFF to the Future Investment Management LLP’ is the sponsor and the investment manager of the fund.

·       The management and operation of ‘Sponsor/Investment Manager’ is led by its designated partner Gigi George.
